Frequently Asked Questions
How many guests for a Vacation, Honeymoon or Incentive Charter (3 days to 3 months)?
It depends on the yacht but it usually ranges from 2-12 cabins.
How far in advance should I book my charter?
We always recommend booking a yacht, as far in advance as is possible. This depends of course on how important the exact date of the event is. Many reservations for Wedding Receptions are booked 6-18 months in advance of the date. Corporate events are usually booked with a window of 1-6 months.
What are the payment terms?
Depending on the value of the contract and yacht, the initial deposit can start at $2500 and final payment is always submitted prior to the event date.
What form of payment is accepted?
Wire transfer, bank check, and personal check are most popular. On occasion, a major credit card may be an option.
Can you assist with Florists, DJ’s, Bands, Photographers, Audio Visual Teams, Inter-Active Entertainment Companies?
Absolutely. We have worked with the best in their respective fields and they all offer many years of experience in working aboard yachts. We can put it all together or offer options for consideration. Yachts are quite different than a restaurant or hotel and this is where our years of expertise will guide you in creating an unforgettable event.
Is tipping the Captain and crew expected, and if so what’s the normal amount?
Tipping is purely voluntary. If you are happy with the level of service you have received from your Captain and crew it’s customary to pay $5-10 per guest for day charters or 10% to 20% of the base charter fee (the amount you paid before provisioning and other fees). Typically clients give the tip to the Captain or Maître’ d and then it is allocated to the crew members for you.
Who is Nautical Holidays?
Nautical Holidays is one of the most respected yacht charter businesses in the industry. We have been in operation for over 20-years, helping clients select a yacht for either a dream vacation in the Caribbean, Florida, Bahamas or Eastern Western Mediterranean and fabulous waters in between. Since it is not possible to research all of the exotic cruising areas of the world, we rely on other members of Charter Yacht Brokers Association (www.cyba.net) for their expertise in other areas. All members of CYBA are governed by very strict rules and guidelines for the protection of the client and guests.
Our Private Charter Team also offers exceptional expertise for “Day Charters,” as Agents for many of the finest yachts, designed to host Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries and Corporate Events. Our goal is to meet and exceed your expectations for a spectacular yachting experience.
Can you tell me more about CYBA and why is it important?
CYBA stands for Charter Yacht Broker Association. Each member must meet rigid membership requirements, including experience in the field, proper use of charter documents, ethical business practices, attendance at charter yacht shows to see yacht and meet the crews, and a review by his or her peers, prior to acceptance.
CYBA members are required to place your charter deposit in an independent escrow account, and to follow through with your charter arrangements after the yacht is chosen, to assure you of a satisfying charter experience.
To be accepted into CYBA, a broker has to:
- Agree to conform to a specific code of ethics.
- Have visited at least two charter shows each year.
- Have a thorough knowledge of boats and crews.
- Be truthful in all advertising and product descriptions.
- Conduct any business in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Place charterer’s funds in a separate escrow account when applicable.
- Use an appropriate contract and be able to explain its ramifications.
