Why New York City?
Whether you are a native or have already visited NY, seeing it from a luxury yacht is a truly unique way to see the sights and enjoy this world class city. Sailing up the East River around the Williamsburg Bridge gives an unparalleled view of the Statue of Liberty underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge.
The City’s neighborhoods and the constant evolution is part of what makes it so vibrant. Sailing down the Hudson River, through Upper New York Bay and up the East River offers glimpses of converted industrial warehouses and trendy shops and bars beyond the manicured waterfront green spaces and historic enclaves. It’s a captivating view to see the juxtaposition between history and new development. One such highlight is Jane’s Carousel, newly restored and housed in a glass pavilion in DUMBO, (which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), a truly Brooklyn mix of class and sass, it’s an ultra-hip neighborhood rooted in a historic past.
In Midtown, you can gaze straight across West 42nd Street and see the bright lights of Broadway; and downtown, be sure to look up Wall Street – if the light is right you’ll spy the magical silhouette of Trinity Church.
Long Island Area
An easy sail from New York and the surrounding region is Long Island Sound. Despite the calm summer days, Long Island Sound enjoys a thriving sailing community. The shores of Long Island Sound are dotted with yacht clubs and marina facilities. The Hamptons are well known to be a destination for the rich and famous, yet this town is delightfully nonchalant about the influx of well-to-do visitors making it a perfect spot to get away.
The East End of Long Island boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the country and is home to the Montauk Lighthouse. From the Montauk Yacht Club you can explore the intricate surrounding bays or anchor off a secluded beach, enjoy a swim, and finish up at Navy Beach for cocktails and dinner after sunset. Some of the more popular Long Island excursions include Block Island (the Bermuda of the Northeast), Sunset Beach, and Shelter Island.
